another advert that really inspired me is one that has stuck in my head for years it was madeĀ in 2006. It is the Citeron C4 advert in which the car transforms to a robot and starts dancing. I just found that it was really effective as it used a song popular at the time of realise and weather you saw the advert of heard the song, you instantly remembered the image of the dancing robot. That’s one thing I love about adverts they can have such a big impact on people if they are done well and are more than simply selling a product.

The advert was created using Marty Kudelka who was Justin Timberlake’s choreographer at the time in a Mo – cap suit to perform the dance. Which he did over 30 times to get it perfect. The entire scenery was re created digitally using Apple Shake by Neil Blomkamp director of District 9 and his team. Although I only looked into the making of it years later when I started studying animation it still inspired me because it stayed in my head.

I then went and looked back at the roller skating babies advertisement and how it was created. It was a composite consisting of cg models, combined with mo-caped, movement from professional dancers, with the addition of footage of the babies heads mimicking the movement of particular dance moves. It was filmed in several countries and complied in London but it just made me realise how much talent goes into making such a short piece of footage and I became intrigued with the processes.

This advertisement was one of the first that really made me appreciate the creativity behind all advertisements because it was so clever taking a few simple words “Evian, live, young”. Yet conveying meaning to the audience with the clever use of photography making it appear we all had a young version of ourselves living within us.

Since then I have never grown tired of Evian advertisements they have become very good at using the same strapline but always bringing something different and memorable.
