12steps of animation project

For this project I am required to use the 12principles of animation to create a 20 second short using a model of a maniquin.

Some initial research was given to us.

I then began to think of what I could have the person doing and initially just thought walking just to get the basics of that right. I then did the walk cycle and found the four images used (contact, down, passing position, and up) made it very simple to get an initial walk going which could then be tweaked to add weight.

I began looking at different ways of walking and came across catwalk videos and thought it would be a good way of trying to give the maniquin character without trying too much and messing it up. Just so I can get the techniques right and do my research into the techniques and how catwalks are done. Previously I have tried to produce work that includes so much and not had enough time to do my research making my final result lack in quality.

So instead of just looking at runway and catwalk shows.

I started looking at Americas next top model and using the judges advice on how a walk should be done and the bad examples in the group to help me see the difference myself.

Here I began looking at other peoples walk cycles and how their character moves and the weight their characters have.

storyboard2

This is my storyboard I came up with showing how the model moves and camera angles.

Now I will need some volunteers!

To walk to the following video for more reference work. Maybe il prefer something you have in your walk whether its facial expressions or movement.

Here I have made a short anamatic to represent what my work will look like movement and camera wise.
